Success Story: Fabisi Musabimana’s Journey

Fabisi’s story begins with a painful past. She was brought from Rwanda to Uganda on a false promise of marriage, a common practice in some areas where agents sell women to men for marriage. Unfortunately, Fabisi’s experience was far from the happiness she had hoped for. Her husband, who already had a wife and children, made her his second wife and provided her with a small house and a piece of land for cultivation. However, things took a turn for the worse when her husband’s behavior changed, and he began beating and chasing her away. Despite having two children with him, Fabisi’s situation became unbearable when her husband threatened to kill her with a pang.

Seeking help, Fabisi reached out to local authorities, but they failed to assist her. Fortunately, the area secretary for women intervened and brought her to the district probation officer, who later referred her to Kassanda Children’s Aid.

With the support of our partners, Kassanda Children’s Aid provided Fabisi and her children with a safe haven. We gave her a house for settlement, a blanket, mattress, and utensils. We also supported her with an income-generating project, providing her with two pigs and a piece of land for crop cultivation. Additionally, we facilitated her enrollment in a tailoring course, which had been her dream. Fabisi excelled in the course and became proficient in just six months.

Upon completing her training, Fabisi expressed her desire to return to Rwanda to reconnect with her relatives. Kassanda Children’s Aid, with the support of our partners, provided her with a brand new sewing machine and covered her travel expenses.

Today, Fabisi’s story is one of resilience and determination. With the skills and support she received, she is empowered to build a better future for herself and her children.
