Success Story: Kassanda Children’s Aid’s Food Security and Shelter Initiative

Kassanda Children’s Aid had long struggled to provide sustainable food for our vulnerable children, often relying on expensive market purchases. This changed when Patricia Woolesy, a kind-hearted mother to our organisation, donated $7,000 to purchase land for farming. The land, named Stephen Baker Farm in memory of her late son, allowed us to grow our own food and ensure a steady supply of nutritious meals.

Patricia’s generosity went further. She invested $10,000 to build four houses on the farm, each costing $2,500, to shelter vulnerable mothers who had suffered mistreatment and lacked a safe place to call home. Each house was fully furnished with beddings, providing comfort and dignity to the families. She also funded a water tank well to ensure access to clean water.

This comprehensive support has transformed the lives of the children and mothers we serve. Beyond food security and shelter, the initiative has empowered families to become self-sufficient. Three families who worked hard on the land have saved enough capital to move onto their own farms. Stephen Baker Farm has become a stepping stone, providing hope, security, and a pathway to independence for those in need. We are deeply grateful for Patricia’s kindness and the ripple effect it has created in our community.
